The idea of this story came to me thanks to a short article from the column “Forse non tutti sanno che…” (“Maybe not everybody knows that…”) in the magazine La Settimana Enigmistica. The article was about running wild boars and the fact that once they have been wounded they still go on running for a hundred metres because of post-mortem muscle spasms. In a sense, it was as if the story had written itself; my passion for the Italian Middle Ages and Renaissance helped me with the setting and the choice of specific objects and story details. Weapons, armors, social ranks, and the challenge between bow and crossbow came from that. Why a rabbit? Because I have always been seduced by small and strong creatures and characters (my favourite wrestler was Rey Mysterio) and by rebel and unusual personalities.
